Rotavirus is the most common cause of diarrhea in suckling and newly weaned pigs and often rides along with PEDV, E. coli or coccidia. Rapid PCR confirmation separates viral from bacterial scours so antibiotics are not wasted on a viral outbreak. Runs on the CarryOn portable analyzer with a sealed, single-use microfluidic chip; nucleic acid extraction and real-time fluorescence PCR are fully automatic, and chips store at room temperature.
